About these terms

These terms apply when you buy from Buttermelle, a small independent jewellery business in Devon, United Kingdom. By placing an order you agree to them. Questions? Email buttermelle@outlook.com.

Our pieces

Every piece is assembled by hand, and many charms are original or small-batch. Slight variation in colour, finish, resin and placement is part of the character of handmade jewellery and is not a fault. Photographs and the on-screen design preview are a guide: the finished piece may differ slightly.

Orders and prices

An order is accepted when we confirm it. Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include any tax that applies. If something sells out, or we spot a genuine pricing error, we may cancel the affected order and refund you in full.

Made-to-order and personalised pieces

Pieces you design yourself, and pieces personalised with names, initials or dates, are made specifically for you. Under UK consumer law the usual 14 day change-of-mind cancellation right does not apply to goods that are made to your specification or clearly personalised, once we have started making them.

Please check your design, spelling and sizing carefully before ordering. If you need to change or cancel a custom order, email us as soon as possible and we will help if we have not started making it yet.

Cancellation and returns

For standard, non-personalised items bought online you may cancel within 14 days of receiving them and return them within 14 days of telling us. Items must be unworn and in their original condition and packaging. Return postage is your responsibility unless the item is faulty or not as described.

For hygiene reasons, earrings cannot be returned unless they are faulty.

Faulty items

Nothing here affects your legal rights. If a piece arrives damaged or develops a fault that is not fair wear and tear, contact us within a reasonable time with a photograph and we will repair, replace or refund it.

Mystery items

Mystery pieces are a surprise by design: you cannot choose the specific charm, and the piece you receive is selected by us from available stock. Because the surprise is the product, mystery items cannot be exchanged because you would have preferred a different charm.

Delivery

Handmade and custom pieces take time to make before they are posted. We will give you an estimated making and delivery time at checkout or by email. Delivery estimates are not guarantees, and delays caused by the postal service are outside our control.

Care and safety

Our jewellery is not a toy and is not suitable for small children. Keep pieces away from water, perfume and creams, and store them dry to protect the finish.

Workshops, events and gift experiences

Bookings for charm bars, workshops and events are subject to availability and to any cancellation terms we tell you about at the time of booking.

Liability and law

We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms, but not for business losses. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
